Things have improved

I kept my fingers away from the keyboard for awhile. And I have to say things are going better now at London Green. So great job. I do recommend one thing, to remind people that we do need quite hours. There are doctors, and nurses who live in this building, who live/work on different shifts and do require some peace and quiet at night.

Just a word of advice.

10 Steps to Improve Iron Works

Thanks to Lee’s comments (Hope you did not copyright it).

10. Hire personal shoppers for each flat. (I don’t have one.)

9. Slow down the lifts even more so we get frustrated enough, and climb the stairs instead. (Oh wait, I already do that.)

8. Invent quiet garbage

7. Increase service charges so London Green can completely buy out the Russian pipeline and control the world. (Next series of Austin Power)

6. Hire royal fox hunters to reduce our horny foxes.

5. London Green starts providing coats and camping stoves so we can be warm for the winter.

4. Hire a clown to cheer up the security guards.

3. Write a happy Iron Works blog. Happy Happy Joy Joy.

2. Put our housekeeper (you know who you are) as President of London Green.

1. Get a lie detector.

Ok. Let’s be Positive

As much as I gripe, my colleagues have suggested I should start to write a few positive things about Iron Works and London Green.

The major positive thing about Iron Works, is that it is clean. The housekeeper (who we all know who this is) is very charming and does a very good job. He always has a smile on his face, and he can definitely cheer any sorrowful soul.

The second positive thing is that is located on the canal. One can travel on the canal with the bike to Canary Wharf or to Lea Valley. Even though the canal water and the area is not the prettiest, it is still the nicest way to see the area.

The third positive thing about Iron Works, is the space of the flats. Generally the flats are quite large and spacious. That is one positive thing, which is hard to come by in London. (BTW, there is also no drafts.)

Finally, the last thing I can think of is Victoria Park. The park is quite close and I have had no problems walking in that area. An occassional walk through the park is quite nice on the weekend.

Another gripe…

It was great to get some comments on this blog. One was weird, and one was absolutely great. Allan good job man. I like Allan’s comments. Yeah I am an old hag, who loves to complain. And yes, I will be moving soon. (I mainly wrote this blog, so that when I do need to move out, the lifts will be working on that day.)

The one thing good about Iron Works, is the space. In London, you get absolutely nothing. But here are my gripes about Iron Works:

  • Location (there will be no other housing at Fish Island according to Tower Hamlets)
  • No shopping conveniences (15 minute walk to a Tesco)
  • Heating costs
  • Lack of communication from Londongreen (Weird comment by John. I think he may have some feelings for someone at Londongreen)
  • Londongreen does not enforce regulations, when residents break rules (noise and garbage)

I must say, though things are looking up for Iron Works. This last month, Londongreen seems to be managing the building reasonably well. Will let you know, how things are improving.
BTW: Did anyone see the accident at the roundabout? It looked like a hit and run. So many police and fireman. It looked really bad.

Cool!

Just to let you know. The lifts are starting to work. It probably started really working since I wrote this blog, and hit a nerve at mycitypad and londongreen. I will remove mycitypad, but as a side note if you type in londongreen.com where does it go to…. mycitypad. Duh! That’s doesn’t make any sense, if they are not related to each other.

London green have now completed their 2nd or 3rd time painting the walls near the lift. They definitely needed it, but it does seem like a waste of money. (They did promise us new lifts).

New doors are being put in. It’s always strange that it takes so long to do those simple things. How many people does it take to put a lightbulb in? Since the door could not lock, the security guard (which are the most anti-social human beings you could ever meet) had to sit in a running car all night staring at the front gates. Great thing for the environment.

I will continue to keep you up to date what is happenning at Iron Works.

Heating and a view of Iron Works

The weather has gotten cold, the last few days, and we have had to put on the underfloor heating. It has been difficult to guage how much this will cost us. Last year, we used it but we were continuously cold. This year, the heating seems to be working. It is strange that I have had to put the setting to 27 degrees celsius for it to actually warm the house. Tomorrow, I will start to calculate how much the underfloor heating will cost us. I am guessing 200 pounds for the winter. Which is a lot, but unfortunately, most newer building tend to use underfloor heating. Does anyone have information, on how to best use underfloor heatings?

Below is a picture of Iron Works.

And this picture is semi-cool. They have done a few film shots at our place. The Real Hustle and the movie Breaking and Entering have both been filmed here. This building is located on the same premises as Iron Works.

Up and Down

The lift is back up again.  We do have 2 though, and still not sure what londongreen is planning to do, to solve the problem with the lifts.

Nevertheless, it has been nice to have a working lift.   Nevertheless, someone decided to throw someone’s heater/airconditioner out.  He was waiting for the lifts to work, so he could take it up to his flat.  This is mainly londongreen’s fault, for not having those lifts working.

Nevertheless, once they fix them, I will have to complain about something else.  Does anybody else feel like complaining about something?

Burned Out

I would not expect to be writing three days in a row, but I guess living at Iron Works can be somewhat exciting. Well, this morning I can not blame londongreen, but I can blame the local people of Tower Hamlets.

Tower Hamlets is one of the most deprived councils in London, where 43% of people are unemployed. (Nevertheless, the government is saying things will improve when the 2012 Olympics arrive). Because of the unemployment, there is considerable amount of crime in Tower Hamlets being ignored by local council members.

Nevertheless, without digressing, walking towards the bus, a burned out motorcycle was on our footpath. This has happenned twice before, once another motorcycle and the other time an entire car. Now, living here I have gotten used to this situation, but before I never saw burnt out vehicles on my doorstep.

Even though our lives have never been in danger in this area, the area is not for the light-hearted.

Again the Lifts are dead

After two days, the lifts have gone on strike. After a 45 minute journey home from work, I really do not want to not walk up those stairs. You must be asking why can’t you walk up those stairs and stop complaining. The fact of the matter is, we are paying for a service, and we should be provided a service. This just isn’t happenning because londongreen and mycitypad just doesn’t care. Does anyone know, if there is a possibility to get compensation when services are not being provided?

Lifts

I decided some form of action needs to be taken, in order for london green and mycitypad to start providing services, and not take us for granted. So I am here to explain to londongreen, it’s shareholders, prospective investors and the community, what little action londongreen does.

As all Iron Work’s residents know, our lifts have either been creaking, disabled or completely shut down. I feel sorry for those people who have to climb 7 flights of stairs for the last three weeks. Let me explain what has been occurring for the last three months:

Approximately 3 months ago, both lifts were shut down inexplicably, without any notice. Few days later, Caroline, had written that the lifts would be running by the end of the week. We all expected the lift to work by Saturday, unfortunately, this did not happen. After another week both lifts were working.

Then inexplicably, one lift broke down, and then two weeks ago, both lifts broke down again. Caroline had blamed the tenants for overloading the lifts, and that new ones will come in and replace the old lifts. On Friday, one of the lifts is running, and it is not a new lift, which was promised.

We continue to hear many lies from London Green and My City Pad, promising things, but failing to provide a service, which the freeholders are paying for. When will London Green provide a service to his/her tenants.

Iron Work dwellers add your comments.
